Investigations into pure bidentate ligand vs mixed bidentate ligands on self-assembly of AgPF_6 with the respective L~1, L~2, L~3, L~1/L~2, L~1/L~3, and L~2/L~3 (L~1 = diethylbis(4-pyridyl)silane; L~2 = ethylmethylbis(4-pyridyl) silane; L~3 = cyclotetramethylenebis(4-pyridyl)silane) were carried out. The self-assembly reactions of AgPF6 with the respective ligand system produce desirable homoleptic or heteroleptic silver(I) coordination polymers. [Ag(L~1)_2](PF_6) gives rise to a tubular loop chain whereas the other five products lead to a twofold interpenetration diamonoid structure. [Ag(L~1)_2](PF_6) shows a strong blue luminescence at 453 nm (γ_(ex) = 270 nm), which is useful to recognize alcohols. All products were characterized by thermal analyses, and in particular, alcination of [Ag(L~3)_2](PF_6)?CH_3OH at 600 ℃ finally produces silver(0) microcrystalline morphology.
