摘要

Measures for environmental problems and global warming must be considered in steel works, such as reducing CO_2 emissions and the consumption of carbon. Carbon inputs to steel works comprise mainly coal, which is used as a reducing agent in the blast furnace through the cokemaking process or injectants into the blast furnace. Recently, there has been strong demand to suppress the reducing agent rate RAR) in the blast furnace in order to curb CO_2 emissions. This paper firstly describes methods of reducing CO_2 emissions based on the carbon balance model in the steel industry, and then outlines the technologies for reducing the RAR in the blast furnace process and for producing innovative raw materials which JFE Steel has been developing to effectively reduce CO_2.
