Update for Renault's family-sized estate includes a new plug-in hybrid powertrain. There's more to this facelifted Megane Sport Tourer than a lightly revamped cabin and a few modest exterior tweaks. The big news here is that the estate version of Renault's family car is now available as a plug-in hybrid, with all of the tax savings and eco credentials the addition of a socket, battery and motor inevitably bring. The Megane E-Tech's naturally aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is paired with a small motor and an integrated starter-generator, which draw their power from a 7.5kWh battery that can be charged from a home wallbox (Renault will provide buyers one for free) in just over three hours. It can travel for 30 miles on electricity alone - five miles less than the rival Kia Ceed Sportswagon PHEV but not totally uncompetitive.
