Analysis of Growth of Pulses in Arid Zone of Rajasthan

摘要

An attempt has been made in this paper to document the pattern of growth of pulses in arid zone of Rajasthan. The secondary data from 1974 to 2001 were used. The periods of study visualized as a whole as well as by sub division into two equal periods.The study revealed that area and production of guar and moong bean in most of the selected districts has increased during second period ((1988 - 89 to 2000 -01) of the study in comparison of first period (1974 - 75 to 1987 - 88). In case of moth bean, area in all the districts except Banner has witnessed decline in second period while production and productivity were higher hi second period. The instability was reduced during second period in area, production and productivity of all the guar and moongbean crops in most of the selected districts. However, instability increased in area, production and productivity under moth bean. The compound growth rates of area, production and productivity in most of the selected crops during second period were positive and higher. The higher production during the second period might be due to adaptation of improved technology.
