Officials in the autonomous Kurdistan region of northern Iraq say they recently came close to resolving a major dispute with the central government in Baghdad about the country' s budget and the sharing of oil revenues. However, the mass protests sweeping southern Iraq have shifted Baghdad' s priorities, the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government' s (KRG) foreign relations department, Safeen Dizayee, said this week (IOD Nov.20' 19).
