Algeria has ratified a new hydrocarbons law aimed at attracting badly needed foreign investment to its maturing oil and gas sector. The move comes amid an ongoing political crisis in the North African country (IOD Nov.15'19). The new law was published in the official gazette in late December and appears designed to reduce the tax burden on international investors while also reintroducing production-sharing contracts (PSCs).
