Equinor is aiming for a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from its offshore oil and gas installations and its onshore plants in Norway by 2030 and a 70% reduction by 2040 as it aims to get close to net-zero emissions by 2050. The targets - measured against a 2005 baseline - cover so-called Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from producing and refining oil and gas products. But they do not cover Scope 3 emissions from the use of its products by consumers, which account for the vast majority of emissions from oil and gas.
