The Russian refining industry’s output of light products edged up in the first half of 2018, according to preliminary energy ministry data. Diesel production, the industry’s mainstay, amounted to nearly 38 million metric tons (1.56 million b/d) in the six months to end-June, up 1.3% year-on-year, while gasoline output edged up 2.1% to 19.23 million tons (904,000 b/d). Jet fuel data was not available, but output was expected to jump by around 15% due to new volumes coming on the market, notably from a condensate cracker on the Baltic Sea operated by Novatek.
