Japanese trader Mitsui and shipper BW Group are forming a joint venture to own a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) that will be used in Pakistan — the country’s second such facility. This is the first FSRU project for Mitsui and the first time a Japanese firm has participated in an LNG infrastructure scheme in Pakistan, a fast-growing LNG market hotly pursued by Western majors and trading houses. The BW Integrity FSRU, which cost around $310 million, is now at Port Qasim ready to start operations from the end of November to mid-December, later than the original June start date (IOD Jan.19’17).
