Reliance Industries, owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, on Friday reported that its fiscal second-quarter net profit grew by 7% from the previous year as gross refining margins touched a nine-year high and petrochemical earnings improved. The Mumbai-based firm said net profits for the July-September period rose to 82.65 billion rupees ($ 1.3 billion) from 77.04 billion rupees a year earlier (IOD Oct.21’16). Revenue for the quarter rose 11.5% on year to 717.61 billion rupees. The results reflect strong fundamentals in the refining and petrochemicals business, Chairman Mukesh Ambani said in a statement.
