Chilean copper producer Empresa Nacional de Mineria (Enami) is focusing on getting its Paipote smelter upgraded in time to meet a new environmental regulation at the end of 2018, while a decision on a new smelter will be made by September, a company executive said on the sidelines of Cesco Week in Santiago on Thursday April 12.The Paipote smelter (Fundición Hernán Videla Lira) in Chile's Atacama desert stopped operations for 26 days in December 2017 due to a strike over wages.
