Major Turkish integrated long steel producer, Kardemir, opened its lira-denominated billet and bar order books on Aug. 11 with notably higher prices compared to its list prices announced on July 21, amid lira depreciation and strong imported scrap pricing. Kardemir set its lira-denominated domestic sales price for 150x150x6-12 S235 billet at Lira 3,050/mt ($420/mt) ex-works on Aug. 11. But, as the company's new billet list prices remained around $5-$10/mt lower than some other Turkish mills' offer prices, the company has managed to sell notable billet tonnages to the domestic market in a short time, Platts learned.
