摘要

4,40-Dicarboxy-2,20-bipyridine was synthesized quantitatively by chromium(VI) oxide-mediated oxidation of 4,40-dimethyl-2,20-bipyridine or 4,40-diethyl-2,20-bipyridine with periodic acid as the terminal oxidant in sulfuric acid. 5,50-Dicarboxy-2,20-bipyridine and 6,6’-dicarboxy-2,20-bipyridine were also synthesized by the method from the corresponding dimethyl bipyridines in excellent yields. 4,40,400-Tricarboxy-2,20:60,200-terpyridine was obtained in 80% yield from 4,40,400-triethyl-2,20:60,200-terpyridine, and 4,40,400,4000-tetracarboxy- 2,20:60,200:600,2000-quaterpyridine was obtained in 72% yield from 4,40,400,4000-tetraethyl-2,20:60,200:600,2000-quaterpyridine by the same procedure.
