Karachi—Lotte Chemical Pakistan Ltd., in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, said it has temporarily suspended plant operations in Port Qasim, Karachi, Pakistan, due to lower demand for purified terephthalic acid (PTA). As a result of the lockdown to contain the outbreak of COVID-19, there has been a reduction in demand for PTA, Lotte noted. Therefore, the company has decided to suspend plant operations until further notice. The exchange will be notified once production resumes.
