Geismar-Shell Chemical announced it is advancing feasibility plans for a potential $1.2-billion manufacturing expansion at Geismar, La., which would involve construction of a new "world-scale" monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant. The project, for which a capacity was not given, would create 23 new direct jobs, about 112 new indirect jobs and over 1,000 construction jobs. A decision to proceed with the project is expected in 2020, pending final engineering, design and investment decisions.
