The "Woodlands- Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. (CPChem) announced it is studying the addition of a "world-scale" 1-hexene plant, which would expand its AlphaPlus normal alpha olefins (NAG) production. The proposed new unit, for which an expected capacity and location were not given, would utilize the company's proprietary, on-purpose technology to produce comonomer grade 1-hexene with "exceptional" product purity from ethylene, CPChem noted.
