Hanoi-Long Son Petrochemicals, a joint venture of Siam Cement Group (SCG) and PetroVietnam, has broken ground for its estimated $5.4-billion petrochemical complex in Vung Tau Province, Vietnam, according to a report on the government's website. The project, expected to begin operations in 2022, will include a 1-million-t/y ethylene cracker with flexible gas and naphtha feed, which will have the capacity to produce up to 1.6-million t/y of olefins, depending on the feedstock mix. It also includes the downstream production of polyethylene and polypropylene (PCN, 5 Feb 2018, p 1).
