Penserans-Petronas and Saudi Aramco have formed two joint ventures for Petronas' $27-billion Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Johor, Malaysia (PCN, 6 Mar 2017, p 1). The RAPID project includes a 300,000-b/d refinery and a petrochemical complex, which will have the capacity to produce over 7-million t/y of products, including ethylene, propylene, butadiene and other derivatives. Operations are scheduled to begin in early 2019.
