Brussels-The European Commission (EC) has approved the proposed merger between Linde and Praxair, subject to certain conditions (PCN, 30 July 2018, p 4). Following an in-depth investigation, the commission concluded that the transaction, as originally notified, would have significantly reduced competition in a number of markets in the European Economic Area (EEA), in particular for industrial gases, medical gases and related services, specialty gases and helium.
