Moscow-UCC Shchekinoazot has launched a new co-production unit for methanol and ammonia at its industrial site in Shchekinoazot, Russia (PCN, 2 Jan 2017, p 1). The plant, based on Haldor Topsoe's IMAP (Integrated Methanol and Ammonia Production) technology, has the capacity to produce 450,000 t/y of methanol and 135,000 t/y of ammonia. It is the "first in the world" to produce more methanol than ammonia, Topsoe noted.
