Beijing- Thyssenkrupp said it recently commissioned a new commercial unit for the production of bio-based polvlactic acid (PLA), which was built for COFCO Corp. in China (PCN, 19-26 Dec 2016, p 4). The "world's first" commercial facility based on Thyssenkrupp's patented PLAneo technology produces all standard types of PLA, Thyssenkrupp noted. It is being operated by Jilin COFCO Biomaterial Corp., a subsidiary of COFCO.
