Enslewood—Gevo said it will be partnering with National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) on a project to "fine-tune" the composition of the catalyst used in Gevo's ethanol-to-olefins (ETO) process (PCN, 23 May 2016, p 1). The project is expected to improve performance and accelerate scale-up efforts of the ETO technology, which uses ethanol feedstock to produce tailored mixes of propylene, isobutylene, acetone and hydrogen. The technology has currently only been operated at laboratory scale.
