Rome—Italian metals and chemical workers in the northern region of Lombardy are to hold a one-day strike Wednesday to protest against what they claim are too bland measures introduced by the government to curb industrial activity and the circulation of people in the area in an attempt to combat the escalating COVID-19 crisis, union sources said Monday. Among those due to strike for eight hours on Wednesday are members of Italy’s three main metal workers’ unions, the FIOM, FIM and UILM groupings.
