摘要

It is well known that mud-dauber waspsSceliphron spp. (family Sphecidae) paralyse spiders and store them in their nestsas food provision for their offspring. Thespecies differ in their number of cells ina nest, the number of spiders provisionedin a cell, and the number and preferenceof spider species collected for provisioning.On 2 July 2011, we observed six spiders that appeared paralysed being carried away by ants on the kitchen floor ofan apartment. The source of these spiderswas a mud-dauber wasp (Sceliphron sp.)constructing a nest on the central ceilingfixture (Figure 1 a). The identity of thewasp species could not be ascertained, asit was not collected. All the six spidersbelonged to the family Araneidae (Figure1 b).
