摘要

Heteropolyacids (HPAs) are known to be excellent re-dox catalysts. In combination with TiOi, HPAs can be used as photocatalysts active in visible light. The HPA accepts electron and get reduced to heteropolyblue (HPB) that can absorb light in the visible range. HPA can be incorporated onto the external surface or in the pores of zeolite-Y. Zeolite-based composite photocatalysts have been designed by incorporation of HPA, semiconductor TiO_2 and transition metal cobalt on zeolite. This composite metallozeolite photocatalyst is efficient in photoreduction of methyl orange (MO) in visible light to the tune of 4.11 mg of MO photore-duced/g TiO_2. This catalyst also shows encouraging results for hydrogen evolution from water to the tune of 2730 mu mol/h/g TiO_2.
