Although there is an increased usage of the World Wide Web (WWW), and more than two billion websites exist today, the intemet still has major drawbacks which need to be addressed. These include the following: (i) Too much junk is present on the internet which poses a problem for the serious browsers, and (ii) No ready accessibility, i.e. not having the resources that are useful to a particular category of browsers, say for example biologists, at one place. Put in simpler terms there is a necessity for 'Yellow Pages' to the biologist. A simple search on any of the popular sites like Alta Vista, Google, etc. gives an illustration of these two problems. While lack of awareness about the available resources makes one use alternative, probably substandard and, in certain instances, wrong sources, making available all the known resources at one place, as mentioned above, will greatly aid the researchers in general, and biologists in particular. With this as the primary objective, www.bioresearchindia.com (BRI) was hosted. Although the site is presently in the construction phase, portions of this site are already available for public usage.
