Urban sprawl detection and monitoring can be facili-tated through the multispectral high resolution IndianRemote sensing Satellite (IRS-P6) images of LISS IIIand LISS IV sensors. The present study makes an at-tempt to analyse the dominant changes that occurredin land-use/land-cover features of Mehadrigedda water-shed during the past three decades (1975-2005). It isfound that the phenomenal increase in built-up areafrom the watershed is spreading haphazardly into thefringe of the Visakhapatnam metropolis.
