PLEASE forgive the vulgarity, but I don't think there is any denying the prevalence of the slang phrase, "s*** happens". (Don't be misled by my title; it is not one of Shakespeare's, and I agree it lacks any redeeming wit, but it does seem to have been given popular impetus by the 1994 film Forrest Gump.)
