A membrane material is developed from the poly(ethylene-co-methyl acrylate)/poly(vinylidene fluoride) (EMA/PVDF) blend by partial chemical etching/swelling of the EMA copolymer. EMA/PVDF blends were prepared at various concentrations from 90/10 to 60/40 ratio, and the developed membrane was microporous nature. Prepared membranes were taken for water permeability measurement, and 80/20 blend membrane was selected for further filtration studies by considering the blend composition and optimum properties. Separation of various pollutants such as BSA proteins, oil-water emulsion, and E. coli bacteria have been studied in a cross-flow filtration setup using 80/20 membrane. The prepared membrane was also taken for the industrial effluent separation, shows improved water parameters at the permeate side. (c) 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym.
