Recent announcement of quotas on import of steel products in the US became a new challenge for South Korean steelmanufacturers, pipe producers in particular. Besides, the representatives of the HRC market are also concerned aboutdemand weakening. South Korea’s pipe producers, however, will not be affected as much as it was earlier expected,planning to shift export volumes to alternative markets. Thus, some decline in the HRC demand will be a feasibleproblem for both importers and local suppliers in South Korea in 2018.
