IT IS WELL ESTABLISHED that one can become proficient in biody-namic methods by apprenticing to a master biodynamic farmer. One follows directions, observes results, and internalizes the rhythms of the biodynamic techniques. However, there is anotherimportant level of knowing that can be achieved in a biodynamic farm setting through research and personal inquiry into the concepts of biodynamics. I engaged in such a research project while apprenticed to Harold Hoven at Raphael Garden farm on the campus of the Rudolph Steiner College. I discovered that the most important result of my experiments was my personal growth. The following is a description of some of the growth possibilities when one undertakes biodynamic research.
