Well it's time to change the aging sprayer. This immediately opens the question; do we go self-propelled or trailed? As I am the sprayer operator and don't have to sign the E140,000 cheque, there is only one answer - a self-propelled machine. I wouldhave to say that you would probably have to find perhaps E30,000-50,000 more for a self-propelled. But there are many advantages of a dedicated sprayer. It is always ready for work without having to drop something off the tractor and hook something up, wasting at least half an hour of valuable spraying time. For example, during autumn drilling the sprayer tractor will probably be helping with cultivations and when some spraying is required, cultivations have to stop.
