In his new book There Is a Garden in the Mind: A Memoir of Alan Chad wick and the Organic Movement, author Paul Lee looks back at master biody-namic gardener Alan Chadwick and the founding of the Chadwick Garden. The first organic and bio-intensive garden at a U.S. university, the garden—and more importantly, the gardener himself—had a profound influence on the development of the organic movement. In the book, Lee places the work of Chadwick in the context of the development of the physicalist movement and its rejection of organics and vitalism.
