Technical expertise and a can-do attitude are both characteristics that Hertfordshire grower Jo Franklin has called on in the past two years.One of eight arable growers to join the HGCA's Monitor Farm programme in England, Ms Franklin farms in partnership with her father Philip at Lower Heath Farming, near Baldock. And she is the drive behind many decisions that put the business back on a profitable track over the past two years.The Monitor Farm initiative encourages farmers to share best practice with a focus on business improvement. Billed as the first large-scale, farmer-led project of its kind in England and Wales, all eight monitor farms hosted open days for fellow growersin the run-up to harvest.
