Do you know the difference between septoria and yellow rust? Can you tell when your wheat is suffering a bad dose of glume blotch? John Clarkson, plant pathologist at NIAB, wants to put you to the test. He has set a challenge to Seeds Day visitors with 10 wheat plots, all of different (but unspecified) varieties. No sprays have been used, so these wheats will be covered in a range of different diseases, some naturally occurring, some artificially inoculated. Your task on the day is to identify whichdiseases occur in which plots. The varieties will not be identified -- because that would provide a clue. There's a prize -- a bottle of bubbly and a certificate -- for the most expert entry. To boost your chances on the day, do some homework here beforehand with our picture gallery which illustrates aH the usual suspects ....
