Recently, we read with great interest the recent paper by Wang et al. [1 ]. The authors performed a meta-analysis of 10 case-control studies to examine the association between five polymorphisms of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) (i.e., VEGF + 936C/T, -1154A/G, -2578C/A, -634G/C and -460T/C) and risk of breast cancer. Their meta-analysis suggests that the VEGF + 936C/T, -1154A/G, -2578C/A, -634G/C and -460T/C polymorphisms may be not associated with risk of breast cancer development based on the currently available studies, especially among Caucasians. It is an interesting study. Nevertheless, we would like to raise several concerns related to this article.
