It's my first inspection. I want to do it alone, so during the week I drive to the Apiary after work. It's a good night to do it as the weather is nice and calm.The first thing to say is that there are loads of bees zipping in and out of my hive, so I know they are OK. I get to work quickly. There's no super at this stage,so I undo the two screws either side of the roof that keeps it from blowing off and put it to one side. The roof is pitched, so I place the apex towards the ground between two concrete blocks to keep it level and easy to place anything on top. The crownboard is placed on top of the roof. There's no Queen excluder at this point, as there's no need.
