摘要

Historically has Georgian science been strong in your area? If yes, what have been the accomplishments? Jamlet Monaselidze: In the past, Georgian molecular biophysics and molecular biology was governed by the Soviet Union Academy of Sciences and this had a quite negative influence. These sciences fell behind in comparison with the USA and many European countries. But it should also be noted that despite these conditions we had some significant achievements, e.g. a highly sensitive differential scanning microcalorimeter (DSM) was designed at our institute (P.L. Privalov, J.R. Monaselidze). It had no analogs in the contemporary world. Later P.L. Privalov produced a series of DSM in the USSR and then in the USA
