The F1 hybrid Ganfeng 3, was developed at Lanzhou. It has high yield and good fruit quality, and is tolerant of bacterial leaf spot [Pseudomonas syringae pv. lachrymans] and cucumber downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora cubensis), and highly resistant toFusarium wilt [F. oxysporum f.sp. cucumerinum]. When planted under cover it matures early, with a stable yield of approximately 124.5 t/ha, which is 30% greater than Changchu Mici and gives 7500 to 15 000 yuan greater income per hectare. In provincial and nationwide trials it had the earliest maturity, produced the greatest yield and was the most disease resistant.
