Chelyabinsk region-based MMK has signed an agreement with China’s Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering for construction of coke battery No.12 capable of producing 2.5 million t of coke per year. Thanks to the launch of the new facility, the company will be able to retire the outdated coke batteries No.1 (565,000 tpy of coke), No.2 (540,000 t) and No.3 (560,000 t). Moreover, the new battery will partly make up for a wear-related decrease in performance of the operating units. MMK operates a total of nine coke batteries.
