摘要

Fuyu is the most important cultivar in non-astringent persimmon production in Australia. The cultivars Izu and Oku Gosho, which ripen earlier than Fuyu, and the later cultivar Suruga, were tested to assess their potential for extending the season inSE Queensland. Fuyu produced medium-large fruits (182 g) of acceptable colour and sweetness. Yields were moderate to heavy but marketability was only fair. Izu ripened 37 days earlier than Fuyu and fruit size (172 g), colour and sweetness were acceptable. Yields were moderate but marketability was low. Oku Gosho ripened 27 days earlier than Fuyu, had similar fruit size to Izu and acceptable colour and sweetness. Yields and marketability were low. Suruga ripened 19 days later than Fuyu, had similar fruit size (182 g) and good colour and sweetness. Yields and marketability were fair. The main causes of poor marketability for all cultivars were fruit size and the presence of calyx cavity [calyx separation]. All cultivars were non-astringent at harvest and could be stored for >10 days at 20℃. Izu and Suruga were considered satisfactory for extending the season but Oku Gosho was not suitable because of its low yields and high incidence of distal end cracking.
