摘要

The adaptation of Proteaceae cultivation to soilless techniques requires the correct nutrient solutions to be defined and adequate substrates for this type of plant to be found. Cultural methods can bring about considerable changes in quantitative aspects of development, flowering and vegetative cycles. The main results of trials in S. France on the soilless cultivation of Proteaceae and the effects of relative NPK concentrations and K:Ca+Mg ratio, chemical compatibility of substrates with respectto root excretions, water and mineral requirements at the vegetative and flowering stages, pruning and harvesting methods adapted to architectural features of the species and the level of physiological maturity for flowering are presented. Unsolved problems requiring further research are outlined.
