A greenhouse experiment was carried out in 1993 at Holambra (SP, Brazil) to evaluate the effect of cutting type (apical, intermediate or basal) and IBA concentration (0, 1000, 2000 or 4000 ppm) on rooting of rose cv. Red Success leafy cuttings takenin summer or winter. The apical and intermediate cuttings generally rooted better than basal cuttings in both seasons. Average rooting percentages of apical, intermediate and basal cuttings at the time of transplanting were: 76, 70 and 47%, respectively, in summer, and 80, 69 and 33% in winter. IBA did not stimulate rooting. Average rooting percentages for the control cuttings reached 85% in summer and 78% in winter, irrespective of the type of cutting.
