> Deep mathematics, merry and critical discussions, ideological battles around the Encyclopédie , contributions to friendly and academic networks: D'Alembert's correspondence allows us to assess, during 40?years of intense activity, the nature and type of links that existed between the daily business of a scientist and the rich production of the Enlightenment in Europe, between D'Alembert's own works and the works of a changing world. Half of his letters have never been published before, the ones that have were scattered among several publications, with incomplete indications regarding dates and correspondents. How, then, should this corpus be organized and analysed so as to account for the construction behind this exchange of letters?
