There has been an improvement in copper wirerod used in wire and cable production in Japan, SouthKorea and Taiwan, with a collective growth of 3.5% y/y for H1 2017. Most of the growth was seen inSouth Korea, with a rise of 9.5% y/y to 229,000 tonnes of copper conductor, followed by Taiwan withan increase of 2.0% to 143,000 tonnes. Japan recorded the lowest increase over H1 2017, up only0.3% y/y to 339,000 tonnes of copper conductor.
