Indonesia's KMI Wire & Cable tripled its consolidated net profit to IDR 322 billion ($24 million) onsales of IDR 2.81 trillion ($211 million), up 6% y/y. Operating profit nearly doubled to IDR 395.7 billion($30 million).The company attributed the significant improvement in its results to sales on the domestic market,particularly to Indonesia's electricity provider, Perusahan Listrik Negara (PLN). The state-ownedelectricity provider is conducting a five-year project to add a total of 35GW and achieve anelectrification rate of 97.4% by 2019. The project requires the addition of a large number of electricitytransmission and distribution lines, as well as transformers and substations.
