Ten new coordination polymers, [Zn_2(Htrb)(L1)_2]·8H_2O (1), [Zn_2(Htrb)(HL2) _2(H_2O)2]·4H_2O (2), [Co_2(Htrb)(HL2)_2(H_2O)_2]·4H_2O (3), [Cd_2(Htrb)(HL2)_2(H_2O)_2]·4H_2O (4), [Cu_3(Htrb)(L2)_2(H_2O)_2]·8H_2O (5), [Ag_5(Htrb)(HL2)(L2)(H_2O)_2]·2H_2O (6), [Ag_6(Htrb)_2(HL3)_2(L4)]·2H_3L3·6H_2O (7), [Ag_4(Htrb)_2(H_2L5)_2] (8), [Ag_6(Htrb)_2(HL6)_2(H_2O)_3]·2H_2O (9), and [Ag_2(Htrb)]·2NO_3 (10), based on a hexadentate N-donor ligand hexakis(1,2,4-triazol-ylmethy1)benzene (Htrb) and different carboxylates, have been synthesized (H_2L1 = 5-OH-1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid, H_3L2 = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid, H_3L3 = 1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylic acid, H_2L4 = 2-CH_2OH-1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid, H_4L5 = 3,3′,4,4′-benzophenone tetracarboxylate acid, and H_4L6 = 4,4′-oxidiphthalic acid). Compounds 1-4 feature typical 2D binodal 4-connected networks with a (4·6~4·8)_2(4~2·6~4) topology. Compound 5 exhibits a 3D (4,6)-connected (4~4·6~2)(4~4·6~(10)·8) framework. Compound 6 shows a 3D trinodal (6,8)-connected framework with a (3~4·4~4· 5~2·6~5)_2(3~4·4~(12)·5~4·6~8) topology. Compound 7 features an unusual 3D trinodal (4,6)-connected net with a (3~2·6~2·7~2) (3·4·5·6~2·8)2(3 2·4~2·5~2·6 4·7~2·8~3) topology. Compound 8 displays a 2D layer with a (3,4)-connected (4·6~2)_2(4~2·6~2·8~2) topology. Compound 9 shows a uninodal 2D 4-connected network with a (4~4)(6~2) topology. Compound 10 reveals a 3D (4,8)-connected (4~6)_2(4~(12)·6~(12)·8~4) net. The ligand effects on the complex structures were studied. Moreover, their luminescent emissions were studied at room temperature.
