摘要

The purpose of this study is to see the Japanese overcome the problem of culture shock in Jakarta through ganbaru ( ) concept and gaman ( ) concept using five stage of culture shock theory. This study uses quantitative methods with Japanese people living in Jakarta as respondent, thestudy was conducted by spreading the questionnaire directly and through the media. The findings of the study is majority of Japanese people having problems with public transportation in Jakarta which is very different from Japan because there is no fixed stop place and other transportationproblems, and although the Japanese experience culture shock they still have the concept of ganbaru ( ) and gaman ( ). Majority of Japanese people also respond their culture shock problem as a common thing when someone is abroad. The Japanese who live in Jakarta also have a purpose when theydecide to stay in Jakarta which until now still live in Jakarta with the concept of ganbaru ( ) as their rationality to achieve their goals.
