A novel organic-inorganic hybrid phosphovanado-molybdate Na(H _2O)_6[Cu(2,2′-bipy)_3]_2[Cu(1,2- dap)_2(H_2O)]_6H[Cu(1,2-dap)_2{PMo ~(VI)_8V~(IV)_4O_(40)(V ~(IV)O)_2Cu(1,2-dap)_2}]_6·2H 2O (1) (1,2-dap = 1,2-diaminopropane, 2,2′-bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine) has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TG-DTA, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Interestingly, 1 represents the first example of cyclohexane-like ring-shaped phosphovanadomolybdate constructed from six bicapped pseudo-Keggin clusters [PMo~(VI)_8V~(IV)_4O_(40)(V ~(IV)O)_2Cu(1,2-dap)_2]~(5-) linked by six [Cu(1,2-dap)_2]~(2+) linkers. Notably, adjacent rings are connected together, forming the 3-D supramolecular structure through hydrogen bonding interactions.
