The Royal College of Anaesthetists recently introduced an open marking system for evaluation of candidates taking the fellowship examinations [1]. It is meant to reduce the examiner bias associated with a closed marking system. We evaluated the equivalent scores between open and closed marking during the structured oral examination (SOE) among candidates attending the Primary FRCA SOE course at Coventry in December 2009.
